As I was starting to write this blog, I started writing about the importance of family. (I was actually blogging about a family session we did about a week ago). But as I kept writing, I felt like God took me to speak more about His love. Friends, I do not intend this blog post to be a “preaching” or a “teaching”, but more of encouraging words to love our family, to love one another, and love God above ALL things. We live in a world filled with sin, corruption, hate, jealousy, violence, and evil. We turn on the TV or go on social media and evil is more exposed than love. I asked myself why?! Why is this world so corrupted and filled with so much hate? And I felt God answered my question right away and said “because the source of love has been pushed aside.” Who is the source of love? God, God Himself. The Bible doesn’t say God has love… no, the Bible teaches us that God IS love! (1 John 4:8). It also teaches us that without God and His abundant unconditional love, we cannot love one another! 1 John 4, has to be one of my favorite chapters of the Bible and I want to share it with you:
7Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.9This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him. 10And love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.11Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is perfected in us. 13By this we know that we remain in Him, and He in us: He has given us of His Spirit. 14And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world.15If anyone confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16And we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. God is love; whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him. 17In this way, love has been perfected among us, so that we may have confidence on the day of judgment; for in this world we are just like Him.18There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love. 19We love because He first loved us.20If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21And we have this commandment from Him: Whoever loves God must love his brother as well.
Life changing right?! …
Let’s mark the difference in this world full of hate, and let’s begin to support, believe, and love each other! Don’t let jealousy and pride, get in the way of a friendship or your family… Jealousy and pride was the gateway to all evil in this world, which God intended it to be perfect for human kind. Let’s make sure everywhere we go, we take the love of God with us, even in our churches! For so many years, I would walk into church felt so mistreated or I myself mistreated so many innocent people.
About two years ago, I experienced one of the worse treatments from other leaders at the church, and living that process was TOUGH my friends. But honestly that was the only way God was able to teach me and show me, how I also mistreated others. I learned that the only way to please Him, is to love Him and others. I thank God for the way He used that season in my life to change me, transform my heart, and cleanse me in that area. If you are a church leader or a leader in your community or wherever, examine your heart, you never know how your words may impact someone’s life and change them forever. Even the Bible teaches us, that we can do so much in the ministry, perform signs, wonders, walk in the supernatural, serve in church 24/7, have all the faith in the world, but if we do not love one another or love God… all these things are nothing to God! (1 Corinthians 13).
During the time where God was taking me through a rough patch, He brought me to this verse, which COMPLETELY changed the way I saw things and felt about so many things. “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-39) . Yes, I had read that verse thousands of times, but never read it the way God wanted me to understand it. I understood that I serve God and do things for God and others because of LOVE, not to look good in front of men or for my own glory! In order for us to love others, we have to learn how to love God with EVERYTHING we have! There’s SO much more to write about love, but I’m also still learning how to love unconditionally. It’s a process, but it’s not impossible. We are humans and will make mistakes, but run back to love and forgive one another.
I really do not know why God took me to write this… but I hope it reminded you, as it did to me, to love God with EVERYTHING you’ve got, even if the process seems impossible to overcome!
With much love,
